6 Feet at a Time

Updated: Dec 8, 2020

There is no doubt that COVID-19 has impacted the globe in ways that will resonate forever. What does this mean for the future of event and business photography? We recap some of our experiences during this pandemic and how you can navigate your photographic needs during these changing times

As some places begin to open back up, many people are beginning to resume their normal activities. However, an eerie atmosphere looms over what were once ordinary events. One recent Foxbear experience, in particular, was shooting graduation photos for a student of the Boise State Class of 2020. With Boise State Graduation moved to a virtual only session, many people are worried they won't have the same way to preserve the memories that previous classes had.

On May 8th, 2020, however, there was no shortage of students wanting their pictures taken at the well-known B Plaza on Boise State's campus just outside the administration building -- also known as 'the B'. This made it tricky to follow social distancing guidelines, but now it is more important than ever to preserve this security that more people are feeling as the pandemic seems to die down.

So, what can you do to make sure you are safe during your professional photo shoot? Here are just a few Foxbear suggestions:

1) Make sure you are wearing or bring along protective gear and sanitizer. Yes, this is something we have all been aware of for quite some time, but many people are forgoing their face masks and lowering their security. To make sure, you and your photographer remain healthy, please sanitize your hands before the shoot and after. Also do your best to maintain social distancing. While photographing, staying at least 6 feet apart is relatively easy, so just try to keep that in mind.

2) Virtual bookings and online payments help mitigate the amount of contact and speed up the process. When you book online at www.foxbearphotography.com/book-online you can easily schedule your session and pay in full. With this feature, all you have to worry about is showing up! We have also taken measures to make paying in person as contact-less as possible with our new Square integration and POS system.

3) Planning is the key to a smooth session. With elaborate photo sessions that may take more than one day to complete, planning is essential. Planning for transportation, costs, and post-shoot procedures are all handled digitally here at Foxbear which not only helps the shoot run seamlessly, but also gives you peace of mind and the ability to plan ahead for any other social distancing and health needs you may come across.

While things do seem to be improving out there in the 'real world', it is important to recognize that there is still a risk and to do what we can to help each other come out on the other side. There's no telling what exactly will happen when this is all said and done, but one thing you can count on is that Foxbear is on your side. Here to support local businesses and local people, we are bringing people together through the power of art -- 6 feet at a time.
